Not to mention, the love scenes aren't even that good!!! Forgot to mention that the reader sounds like she's about 60. The protagonist is a victim with Stockholm Syndrome she resists the love interest for approximately a chapter before being reminded he was nice to her once a year ago, and he'd already ruined her eighteenth-century virtue, so it was fine to stop resisting and start the long, tedious, fall into weird love with a guy who professed to have developed interest in her because she looked like her mother who he had been in love with before her death. I couldn't, in good conscience, finish it. Couldn't finish this really screwed up "romance." Usually I like the plot line of resistance and then resignation and then love, with some serious physical chemistry along the way, but this story too easily glossed over rape, near-pedophilia, and physical abuse.

I’ll be coming to you the next few months with backlist novels that I think you should check out. I’ve been wondering why backlist books haven’t been getting much love. It’s easy to post about these types of books but I feel hearing about those backlist books is even more inspiring and important to our TBRs. Most of them are either literary prize shortlists and longlists, or the newest releases. Well, while I was scrolling my feed and admiring all the lovely pics of the books it struck me that the same books were being featured over and over. We don’t want to feel left out of the reading arena of new books that are flooding the market everyday. We’re all trying to read the latest releases first so that we can gush like crazy over them before everyone else does. You’re probably wondering why I’ve decided to use that analogy. It’s like trying to jump onto a moving train in some cases. Openly sharing one’s reading journey is not always an easy thing to do. It’s great to see that people are getting the reading bug and that they want to share what they’re reading with others. I was looking through my Instagram feed the other day and marveling over all of the new Bookstagram accounts popping up. The three crimes were all purported by the Joker. Arriving shortly after him, Batgirl reveals that two other crimes that took place: an ambush on the Moxon crime family and the murder of a popular comedian. Batman notes that the crime scene is simply a distraction: the true purpose being to steal the chemicals. Elsewhere, Barbara Gordon and Jason Todd both recall her crippling and his murder at the Joker's hands.Ĭalled to Ace Chemicals by the GCPD, Batman discovers multiple bodies dressed as the Red Hood and exposed to chemicals solution created the Joker. Whilst patching up, he is reminded of three different encounters with the Joker by the scars, though his thoughts turn to the murder of his parents at Joe Chill's hands. After an encounter with the Penguin, an heavily injured Batman returns to the Batcave to receive treatment from Alfred. (In addition to everything else, Frazier is a Hatha Yoga instructor.) That ranges from maintaining odor-free litter boxes to kitty massage. I wrote this book for all the people who are outside of New York and I didn't want to upset anyone with sad stories."įrazier, 55, is in the Tampa Bay area to promote her books and to share her philosophy of holistic cat care as well as practical advice. "I've found that cat lovers are sensitive people," Frazier said, "so these stories all have happy endings. You'll get an extremely engrossing fantasy sandbox upon which Cameron uses to maximum storytelling benefit. On to the reasons to crack open that dusty wallet, and scrape out your Audible credit. It has a VERY few minor inconsistencies, but you'll really have to hunt hard to find them - Nothing at all to negatively affect the audiobook. First, let's get this out of the way: It's not 100% flawless. I WILL tell you a few things, however sparse. Now, I'm fully aware that you may get frustrated with the lack of detail. It's definitely a great listen, and yes, I'll listen to it again. Finish up with a killer story that builds, which i will NOT give away. Drape a landscape RICH in monsters and creatures, some familiar, some original and new. Now top this off with INCREDIBLY complex characters and plots, and plots WITHIN plots. Think Game of Thrones, add a more courtly and chivalry-driven medieval system similar to England, throw in an abundant, intriguing and complex magic system. Cameron has crafted the first in The Traitor Sons Cycle, that if the rest are as strong as this tremendous beginning, we are all in for a LOT of very good listening down the road. On occasion, I get a pleasant surprise, worthy of a solid review. Sometimes, it's a complete loss - You've seen the reviews, and they're MERCILESS. As anyone following my reviews, you know that on occasion, I'll randomly purchase an audiobook, without much evidence or pretense, other than to "roll the dice," if you will. You will be taken on a journey that you won’t want to end, but when you turn the last page of this unforgettable yarn, you will be faced with a dilemma that neither you, nor Harry Clifton, could have anticipated. Indeed, AI might make centralised systems far more efficient than diffused systems, because machine learning works better the more information it can analyse. AI makes it possible to process enormous amounts of information centrally. However, soon AI might swing the pendulum in the opposite direction. Given twentieth-century technology, it was inefficient to concentrate too much information and power in one place. Democracy diffuses the power to process information and make decisions among many people and institutions, whereas dictatorship concentrates information and power in one place. In the late twentieth century democracies usually outperformed dictatorships because democracies were better at data-processing.
