Not to mention, the love scenes aren't even that good!!! Forgot to mention that the reader sounds like she's about 60. The protagonist is a victim with Stockholm Syndrome she resists the love interest for approximately a chapter before being reminded he was nice to her once a year ago, and he'd already ruined her eighteenth-century virtue, so it was fine to stop resisting and start the long, tedious, fall into weird love with a guy who professed to have developed interest in her because she looked like her mother who he had been in love with before her death. I couldn't, in good conscience, finish it. Couldn't finish this really screwed up "romance." Usually I like the plot line of resistance and then resignation and then love, with some serious physical chemistry along the way, but this story too easily glossed over rape, near-pedophilia, and physical abuse.
